Thank You for a Successful Event!
In spite of the shaky economy we closed out the first term and year 2011 on a good note. We were able to mobilize our members and leverage resources to several projects to benefit our hometown town, Calauag, Quezon.
We also kicked off the New Year with our first event – the second induction party to swear in the newly elected officers for 2012 to 2014. By all accounts it was a rousing success! We couldn’t have done it without the support of our members, town mates, and friends of CACUSA so a few thank yous are in order, not only for the party but for all of our events over the years.
Our sincerest thanks to the many generous kababayans and friends for coming out and encouraging us to keep going. As well, thank you to those who couldn’t come but sent in their contribution.
Special thanks to our past president Jesse Pica, officers and members past and present for their indefatigable support.
To Flora "Angging" Francia for spending countless hours on the phone and Facebook and helping to create awareness for this event. We thank you for being relentless in getting the message out and reaching out to Calauaguenians in the area and beyond.
Sincere gratitude to Vi-Anne Francia Sinocruz, Kweeny Seguerra Francia, Connie Francia Lee, Michelle Salas Francia, and Nonna Llave Francia and their crew for throwing the best parties ever. For being always at the ready to create flyers, programs, announcements, decorations, you name it. Thanks for taking the time to maintain the CACUSA Facebook pages and for pulling all-nighters to give a good product and for doing all this for free.
Crystal Salas Pornela-Supan thank you for working impossible hours to create sharp and entertaining videos. We are lucky to have you with us.
Shirley Seguerra Lim and Jay Ruiz for helping to facilitate the distribution of CACUSA’s gift to the fire victims last December. We are fortunate to have worked with Shirley and Jay, you are awesome and we hope to continue our partnership in trying to address some of our community’s most pressing issues.
Special thanks to Ariel & Lita Marquez, Joselito & Lisa Leonor, Totoy and Flora Francia, Wolf and ViAnne Sinocruz, Robert & Marilyn Alquitran, Jesse and Violy Pica, Turing & Lita Francia, Jay and Dr, Cef Ruiz, Ted and Marivic Francia Pua, & Joel & Noemi Francia Martin for opening their hearts, homes, offices, and kitchens to host meetings and get-togethers. For those who haven’t sampled Lisa, Angging, and Teddy’s cooking, you are missing out big time.
To Loyd Aler, Archie Entienza, Melissa Barros and Marie Diaz for being such good hosts over the years and for infusing energy, wit, and beauty to our events.
Thank you to Marie Diaz for giving of herself - whatever it took to get the job done and for unselfishly sharing her talent with CACUSA. Coming from a musical family - the family of the late Remedios Mendoza of Santa Maria, she is not only an accomplished singer but an all-around entertainer. With her dynamic hosting skills she had the audience in the palm of her hand. What a talent, what a beauty! We are truly blessed to have her with us. She has contributed tremendously to making our events a success. You are amazing - we love and appreciate you.
Our gratitude to Helengrace Chavez who is not from Calauag but you wouldn’t know by the way she blends in with us. It sure didn’t stop her from being one of CACUSA’s most dedicated members. A very skilled dancer, she has provided some very entertaining numbers to our events. Thank you for teaching the ladies and gents how to dance and dedicating hours and hours of practice time. Who would have thought she could make dancers out of the boys? She really made them look good on that dance floor! We know that it was a real sacrifice for her to use her personal time to coach us and orchestrate the entire entertainment portion with Marie and working in all those thoughtful little details so the numbers stand out. We will also never forget the lean times when all she was dealt was a dusty broom closet for a dressing room and not a single complaint from her. As stunningly beautiful as she is on the outside, she is even more beautiful on the inside. What a trouper!
Special thanks to Cecille Lim Tolentino for sharing not only her tremendous ballroom dancing talent and beauty but also her entire ballroom group with us. Many of us would remember our first induction party, our first attempt at party planning. With a shoestring budget and very limited time, she helped us stage that event and made it a success. Even in not so-perfect-conditions it became one of our most memorable. I know that a lot of her personal time went into this because of the tight schedule but all of it paid off. Her group came and infused the much needed energy into our party. The showcases by Connie Dizon, Brenda Ventura Cynthia Saplan, Atty. Virgil, Carlito Lee, Jonathan Dulay and Cecille were unforgettable. They performed on concrete floors no less. But that didn’t matter, they still made it all look so easy. Thank you for coming to our second induction to dance for us and support us again. To Brenda Ventura & Willie De Leon, the husband and wife team of Rowena and Oscar Penaloza , and your dancing partner Jessie Carlos we are truly grateful. Practically no rehearsal but danced beautifully anyway. Such professionals! Many thanks for the presence of our friends from the Lucena Association of Southern California, the Filipino Central team, the Mindoro group, and the Time to Dance group of Bellflower led by its proprietor Nestor for honoring us with their presence. Thanks for helping out and coming through in a clutch, Cecille! You made us all proud.
Special thanks to our dancers (o, di ba?) Noel Ordiz, Joselito Leonor, Archie Entienza, Arnold Fontanilla, Cesar Balilo, Imee Sorne Fello, Christine Fontanilla, Rowena Ordiz, ViAnne Francia Sinocruz, & Marie Diaz – thank you for sharing your newly-acquired dancing skills and showcasing that other facet of you. Who knew you could move like that?
Our sincere gratitude to Alan Lim for his folksy, entertaining, and inspiring message. The years have shaped you into such a dynamic speaker. Thank you for flying out here to support us. We are truly honored.
To Minnie Barcelona Amon for coming and for gracefully representing the Calauag Circle of Chicago, another Calauaguenian group in the midwest. Thank you for accepting our invitation and for bringing your family. I hope you enjoyed the party.
Thank to Cesar Balillo and his wife Emmi and Noel Ordiz and his wife Rowena for their sacrifices and continued support. Thank you for the Saturday night dinner at CaliWok, we had a blast. We hope we could return the favor and invade Northern California soon.
Special thanks to Sonny and Novie Medina, DJ Ruben and the staff of California Wok in Los Alamitos for hosting us, creating such classy ambiance, scrumptious food, and jumping music, and making those few hours safe, comfortable and fun.
Thanks Joe Seguerra for supporting all of our projects, events, and causes since the beginning. How generous of you!
To Nanay Piting, the entire Francia, Empleo-Marquez, Pica, Ruiz, Fontanilla, Lim, and Regala families – your love and support for CACUSA remain unmatched.
Thank you to all those who donated prizes for the raffle, to those who joined the singing contest and to those who served as judges. To the DI’s who came, we appreciate you. To the photographers and videographers – thank you for capturing the event on film, you are awesome!
Thank you to friends and family who view our photos, we appreciate your feedback and support!
I hope I didn’t miss anyone but if I did I apologize. To all the committed and hardworking members who gave of themselves, volunteered their time and expertise to the event and to all who supported us thank you. Your support has gone a long way to help those in need. We are truly grateful.
If you are not yet a member of CACUSA please contact Flora “Angging” Francia and become one. We would love to have you on board, the more the merrier!
We are excited for our next event and hope you are too.
